Frequently asked

Does Migraine Logger require an account?

No. There is no sign-up. Your data lives on your iPhone and your private iCloud.

Where is my data stored?

Locally on your device, and synchronised across your Apple devices via your private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit). We never see it. See the privacy policy for full details.

How do the AI features work?

AI insights and the daily forecast are optional features powered by your own API key for Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), or Google (Gemini). Keys are stored in the iOS Keychain. When you trigger an analysis, your data is sent directly from your phone to your chosen provider — we don't have any servers in between.

Why ask for HealthKit access?

Sleep duration, heart rate variability, and resting heart rate correlate with migraine risk. Reading them lets the daily risk score reflect your actual physiological state. HealthKit is opt-in; the app works without it.

Why ask for "Always" location?

Optional, off by default. Background location lets the app re-fetch local barometric pressure when you travel — a sudden environment change is a known migraine trigger. You can decline and continue using the app with foreground-only location.

How do I export my data?

Settings → Data → Export to JSON or CSV. Both formats include all attacks, daily logs, and medications.

How do I generate a doctor-ready PDF?

Settings → Reports → Export PDF. Choose 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 / 365 days. The PDF includes summary stats, trigger analysis, medication effectiveness, AI pattern analysis (if you've run any), and the complete attack log.

Calm Mode is too dim / too dark

Calm Mode is intentionally low-contrast for use during a migraine attack with photophobia. If you'd rather not use it, simply ignore the "Calm Mode" pill on the active-attack banner.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Settings → Data → Delete All Data wipes the local store. Removing the app from your iPhone deletes everything else. iCloud copies can be cleared from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.

I think I found a bug

Email migraintracker@gmail.com with: your iOS version, iPhone model, what you were doing when it happened, and a screenshot if you have one. We don't auto-collect crash reports.
